Is There a Difference Between Non Profit and Business?

There is a lot of difference between and what people are seeing in the business world verses the non profit world. My sense is that, at least the corpor that i've worked around and with, the compensation structure had to continue going up if you were to switch companies. Not everybody, but a fair number of people would do that dance back and forth between companies because staying with one company didn't provide the same potential pay raises year over year. But if you swapped companies, they would increase your salary more if you were being hired than they would if you stayed.
