In 19 65, president linden b johnson formed the national endowment for the arts to fund artists in their pursuit of making works that have to be appreciated. One such artist that received a grant through the taxpayer funded national endowment was artist and photographer andreas serano. His christ the photograph shows a catholic crucifix with jesus on the cross, submerged in a jar of mister serano's own urine.
