Aren't We Sentencing Harsh Enough?

Racitivism rates in the country are highest for sex offenders. A lot of these images are created thrueh i mean, truly herrific abuse of children. We really need to have a serious conversation about how we deal with this issue. The thing that that troubled me about the holly twitter thread is it was absolutely guaranteed to make you angry if you knew nothing about how sentencing works. It didn't talk about prosecution recommendation or defence rebuttal. How do judges apply legislatively created sentencing ranges?
