The Principle of Enforced Empathy
We are meant to mourn with those that mourn, so that we can then comfort those that stand in need of comfort. That's where sympathy comes in, sim shared or with pathy, feeling suffering. Or better yet, mpathy, do not just feel with them, but to feel it in ourselves. The lord is brutally clear that if you don't choose to feel for another person, then i will put you through what they've gone through. So likeint or not, you'll end up feeling with them. A that's a scary thought. I would much rather choose empathy than to be forced into the same dungeon of discouragement, the same fellowship of suffering.
