The Story of Timothy, a Mumser
The story of timothy is one of the most moving in the new testament. We are told that when paul visits listra, he meets a young boy whose mother is a jew and father is a greek. This situation makes timothy a mamser, or a mumser, a term used to refer to a child of illegitimate birth. The tora proclaimed that a mumser was not allowed to enter the assembly of god's people - hence timothy's circumcision by paul later in the book of acts.
