Athanasius' Theology of the Father and Son
There is a spiritual component to areas of theology, at least the way he presents himself. One of the most important advances I think was to propose a way that areas' high theology of Father and Son could actually say something to the question of salvation. In the early 80s Robert Gregg and Dennis Grobe proposed a theory that the Son of God incarnate on the Aryan model is a son who shares with humanity not just a picture of what the most perfect human can look like but even the process of improving in it. For Athanasius, of course, it's basically the exact opposite.
