Sylvia Johnson came up to New York in the late 40s. She worked as a waitress for an African-American man who wanted to start a skiing resort. He asked her if she would like to purchase Silvia's lunch, which is still open today. The restaurant represents one of the last remaining hallmarks from the great migration from the south to the north. It was made in the image of my grandmother.
