The Chinese Language Could Not Fit Inside a Computer
In the 1970s, there were only 3,000 computers in use in China. The Chinese language could not fit inside a computer at that time. Tom Mulaney: There are more than 70,000 of these Chinese characters and each represents a word or an idea. In some cases, the very matter and materiality of these machines was too much for them to handle.
