There's a deep connection that I'm not sure how far to go with here, but there's a way in which if you put aside Richard Dawkins view of the way memetic cultural transmission works and evolves. You accept what some of us see, which is that these belief structures, religions are in fact meme complexes that have served populations very well. Almost a little later, doesn't see it as Richard Dawkins, I think at this point, but that's a very specific question.
