The Problem With Great Commanders Being Romantic
He's not able to actually think beyond himself. He's attempting for control over too much. And he's also neglecting some key things, such as the naval aspect. The French Navy can never achieve the same mastery that Napoleon can on land. You cannot fight alone. You have to fight as part of an alliance to be utterly victorious. That's what overcomes him in the end is the fact that he's managed to strategically take off the entire rest of the world around him and completely crushes him. I always love his quote, death is nothing because to live defeated without glory is to die every day. So is there a problem with great commanders being romantics? I think so
