Stalin's Agricultural Collectivization in Ukraine
Stalin wanted full control of the agricultural land there, and he didn't want to be at the mercy of ukranian peasants. The result was a man made famine in one of the most fertile agricultural areas of the world. Estimates range from somewhere between five and six million people perished in this man made famine. Eventually families were allowed to hold small plots that averaged about one acre per family.
