I was fascinated by special forces when i was younger. When the vietna war was going my father was not, he was a regular infantryman. And i thought when i was at west point, that that would be an interesting thing to do. I remember my battalion commander was adimately opposed to it. He said, ad ruined my career. One of the officers in the battalion said, so you've decided to go to speckled feses. But the idea and the mission still interested me. Why? Well, i just thought that small groups of highly trained people, particularly working with host nation or local indigenous personnel is something that will be needed in the future.
