In the 1910s a guy called William Masten came up with this insight that blood pressure changed when people were lying. So he was doing these kind of fairly rudimentary experiments on his peers where he got them to tell untrue stories and just tracked their blood pressure as they were doing this. He had noticed that his white blood pressure went up when they were arguing. That's... Yeah. Based on him having arguments with his wife, a lasso of truth plus Wonder Woman. The invention of the holograph is essentially the crux of it right there.
