Christopher Hitchens comes from a tradition of international socialists. They say both Soviet style authoritarianism and Western corporate capitalism are bad. So they say neither Washington nor Moscow, but international socialism. By the mid 70s it's pretty clear that the revolution is happening anytime soon. He writes this sort of famous hate trilogy about these these figures that he really despises.
