There's so many monuments to anonymous, low ranking soldiers. But they're all dedicated with thisla about obedience to duty and self sacrifice. So i started looking more closely. Are these really such an honouring of the heritage of the lower class white confederate soldier? And iod no. You think that implies some sort of democratic process of deciding what we want in our public spaces? Oh, non, no. The vast majority of public art to day in america is put up by people wealthy enough to pay for it... We need input from everybody as to what we want to see.
