South Korea's Unrest in the 1970s
Labor had to fight its way into politics in South Korea. The KCIA was working overtime to enforce President Park's vision of one big happy Korean family. By the end of the 1970s, labor action was put down violently anywhere that had cropped up. This and other challenges to the Pak regime led to the dramatic demise of Pak himself.
