How to Manage a Drowning Patient

One of the classic teachings around management of patients who have drowned is that we need to assume all patients may have a C-spine injury. The best evidence we have for this comes from a review in 2001 that looked at just over 2,200 drowning victims. And they found that across all these patients, only under 0.5% actually had a C- Spine injury.
