NMDA Blockers Can Prevent Hyperalgesia and Tolerance
Tolerance and hyperalgesia can be prevented or attenuated by the use of NMDA blockers. Opiates have almost no effect on liver function, they do cross the placenta but are not toratogen. Morphine and fentanyl actually can prevent ACTH release,. They can reduce surgically induced hyperglycemia.
