The Mycenaean Language
There were probably many different related varieties of what later became Greek spoken in this region. Buying imported pots or having local potters imitate them doesn't mean that the buyers or makers were also buying or making a new ethnic identity. The mycenaeans made fantastic bronze swords. Acquiring one did not mean swearing allegiance to a king living in a Mycenaean palace.
