Beyland decided that Spence looked like a rock star, and told him he was now Jefferson Airplane's drummer. But Spence was game, and learned to play the drums. Next they needed to get rid of Bob Harvey. According to Harvey, the decision to sack him came after David Crosby saw the band rehearsing - but Crosby denies ever having said this.
