Morton was much friendlier to natives, incorporating them as equals into his own communities. Trusted them with guns, so not exactly surprising that most of them preferred merry amount to play Mort. The Christianity Morton liked was of an inclusive kind. This was a 180 from the strict Puritan teachings that viewed even the smallest departures from Puritan Orthodoxy as an unforgivable scene of demonic nature.
