Prison Ministry - The Minimum of Ampathy
In deuteronomy 25, Paul says that for anything shy of capital punishment, forty stripes he may give him and not exceed. Lest if he should exceed and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee. If we're recognizing the reality and humanity of our fellow beings, even condemned criminals who are killed, don't leave them hanging on the tree. Never allow inmates, prisoners, convicts, ex convicts, to become vile in your eyes. It's the least that compassion requires. The absolute minimum of what ampathy would entail for us.
