The War in Liberia
Charles Gurney was evacuated from the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia during Liberia's civil war. He says he tried to convince a fellow American that returning home would not be an option for his family. The embassy housing compound was overrun by librarians seeking some measure of safety. A Marine-Arn's readiness group, Marg, had taken up position just over the horizon and it became our only escape option.
