In the world of math, mathematicians are usually employed like a pure mathematician. And you sort of have ideas, you talk things out and you're like, Hey, what if we try this? And then someone else gets you another inch closer to the solution. Then somewhere down the line, someone proves the new big theorem. This is really wild. I mean, it's amazing. You learn about one new area of math and you'relike, huh, I'd like to read a page on that. And then you find like a 900 page textbook. It's amazing.
In this episode we explore the weirdness and wonder of Math Without Numbers with mathematician Milo Beckman who wrote a book about the math behind multiple infinities, strange topologies, and extra dimensions, all without using numbers to explain some of the most fascinating and complex ideas that usually only make sense when scribbled in strange notations on a blackboard.
