The History of the German Civil War
The first phase of the war focused on bohemia. The austrian hapsburg were as passionately catholic as their spanish branch. Bohemian nobles objected to ferdinand closing protestant churches and viol in their charter of toleration, and dealt with it in a traditional manner by defenestrating his representative. They then found that support which they had hoped for from their fellow princes was sadly lacking. Out gunned and outnumbered, they were horribly and completely and comprehensively defeated at the battle of white mountain in 16 20. In comprehensive revenge, the native nobility were completely suppressed and replaced by a catholic nobility. And conversion started.
