I think that on some level, it's because people do understand this, that they say extreme things like never apologize and also why they're so reluctant to accept public apologies. I don't accept this as just the default description of this process. You use the word placate and that's a placate me. Well, then I use the wrong word. Okay. And that's what they might be asking of you to show good faith that you are willing to acknowledge and accept and do something.
