Scottish Labour has been almost under-analyzed the scale of its collapse. The party went from 42 to 1 seat in just a few years, says Lord Tebbit. He believes it's because working class voters lost their 'achieved identity' and defaulted to an assigned one. In America that often expresses itself in racialized terms such as "I'm white" But for many Scots political nationalism is actually about loss and belonging.
