He grew disillusioned with empty sophistry mere rhetoric, and began moving towards the philosophy of stoicism. Wherever antoninus went, marcus followed. But if antoninus did not go anywhere, neither did marcus. This meant that the heir apparent never went abroad to help govern a province or serve in the legions,. Or even visit the places he would one day rule. It was a rich bubble, and it was a powerful bubble. And marcus learned a great deal while living in it.
