The Story of Dionysus Zagreus
Christianity really wheezles its way into everything, doesn't it? It's both shocking and not at all shocking to me that this was how the study of orphism existed for so long. They wanted to see christian ideals in the story. And by they, i mean western people who are brought up in christianity. So they just did see these references. And then their own confirmation bias meant that everything continued to revolve around those ideas. Everything had to connect the underworld, the after life, and zagreus, and then orpheus too, with some kind of morality,. even when it likely didn't have that at all.
