How Can You Be Yourself Over Text Message?

I feel like just getting to know someone over text message, you don't really get to see their reactions. I've met some people who are actually more fun or intriguing over text message than they are in person or through FaceTime. But at the same time, how can you be yourself over text message when they don't hear, see or anything? They don't see the reaction. And if you're a sarcastic person, like I am, then you're just going to be dry. You know why? Because some girls, they really think so hard about what to respond back. Like I've had friends like, Oh my God, what should I write back?"
