Part of what Hegel's interested in is defamiliarizing what we're familiar with, not simply transferring us into some alien realm where we don't know how to orient ourselves. So this idea of de-familiarizing the familiar so that we understand the familiar more profoundly than we would otherwise do, I think is important.
