The I can key signing key ceremony is the root zone of what's happening during ICANN meetings. The event takes place at a secure facility in Virginia, but you're not allowed to film there. People are using iris scanners, thumbprids and separate people scan cards to allow them into the room. You have to sign in every time you enter the room so that anyone who has done it will be able to know if any action was taken.
In this episode, David sits down to explain how wanting the Pizza.Pizza domain led him down a rabbit hole to discovering some interesting facts about how the internet works. Who decides what domains are available? How much does it cost to start one? And is it true that there are seven people with special keys that control the internet? David gets to the bottom of it all! We hope you enjoy.
