Mortification is a seventeenth century word, verb, to mortify. It's what my calvinistic friends called mortification. The more that we die to our flesh, which is authentic, it's us, but it's the empty, ugly base part of us, the more we live into our true self. So on one hand, we are to crucify the fles how this is very important. We need to bring that word debauchery and mortification.
