The Importance of the New Covenant
In Hebrews 8, the author calls Jesus our superior high priest. The real image is of Jesus as the one who not only offers the sacrifice for sins but also becomes the perfect sacrifice. We live freely under the new covenant, which empowers us from the inside to live holy lives. With these promises, we don't live in fear of what happens if we disobey; we live in the freedom of Christ's finished work that covers our sin.
