Is Multifamily to the Rescue?
Housing starts are still running above what you would consider to break even rate, particularly for multifamily. There's still rental pressures as well, which further strains affordability across all housing. And there's an argument that the higher prices go on houses, the more people are forced to rent. The less affordable it goes, especially given the high mortgage rates.
