Research by gerhard tos of the new economic school in moscow and pierre louis vizina of king's college london. They found that areas around gulags tend to do better economically to day. People who had grandparents who were enemies of the people tended to attend university at a much higher rate than everyone else. With better educated people, you had higher economic growth.
