The epidemic was largely hepotitus. The idea is that there was a group of frenchmen who shipwrecked in 16 16, and then in basic tribal traditions they were distributed among the tribal groups along the coast. So it's very important that when eventually these plymouth pilgrims show up, they're stepping into a like, volatile, really power vacuum because of this.
