The Importance of T3 in Thyroid Hormones

T3 is so critically important because it's the primary driver of the hormones. If you dumped just a whole, if the thyroid gland only made a whole bunch of T3 and we just dumped that out there, we'd have potential hyperactivity. You lose the ability to customize the thyroid hormone signaling. But you still need a little bit of T3 from the thyroid. Deidonase 1 was the first deidonase discovered back in the 70s. When people realized that T4 could be converted to T3, D1 was what they were talking about.
