The Hypocrisy of Marriage

The philosopher Bertrand Russell wrote a book in 1929 called Marriage and Morals. He talks about how marriage has historically been associated with tons of hypocrisy. In practice, he says, it's been very destructive for women. Our ideals of marriage also promote the idea that your partner will fulfill all of your emotional needs.
