Putting the Desires in a Proper Context

Mortification is not about ridding or getting rid of what is human in us, but about putting that in a proper order. So as Father Gregory was explaining, like a steak and like a glass of wine or a beer and a burger or whatever, ought not supersede our desire for God. Rather, we should place those desires within a kind of hierarchy or framework so that what is most important is ultimately affirmed, and then what is less important assumes its proper place.
