The Importance of Animism

When Tyler first used the term animism or animist, it was in reference to primitive societies who had childlike experiences they couldn't understand the difference between dreams and reality. The term is pejorative specifically around a naive theory of mind. But with several centuries even inside something like a materialist naturalist psychology, the kicker is he was describing as primitive what is in fact a better and healthier theory of mind from a place of his own enlightenment primitivism. What I see with am an animism is this acknowledgement that everything is a spirit which is true and beautiful but not necessarily the ways we can relate to those energies.
