The Taboo Against Extensive Causal Inference in Research
The taboo against explicit causal inference in psychological research. In a lot of research, we are actually interested in causal effects because they are highly relevant for policymakers. But often, because it's difficult to do, we don't make this aim explicit and we also don't make the causal inference explicit. And how does it impair psychological research? Like, when we continue doing this studies, but we still think it's a factor in our studies, is it a bad thing? Or why isn't that what you want to do?
