The Differences Between a Cult and a Religion
Cults are determined by secret knowledge and oftentimes wrapped up in a sense of mysticism. A cult denies the agency of the individual instead forces like tribalism commitment to the cult beyond commitment to any higher power. It is more important within a cult for people to serve the cult than it is for people to service whatever it is that is supposedly informing the cult of what is right.
