The Reappearance of Shapes in Nature

The reappearance of certain shapes over and over again in nature is very interesting. This may be a stupid question, but does that mean that an octagon is better? And it's just like bees aren't smart enough to have figured that out? Isn't that what john nash wrote his anobel prize winning paper on? I do not think so. Oka, well, whatwat what? What do i know?
