The Purpose of a Burnt Offering

The burnt offering doesn't have an express purpose because it's kind of a little bit of a loophole offering. If you committed an intentional sin, there is no sacrifice that will simply just straight up set the tone for that. It needs repentance to be atoned for if it's intentional. And so this sacrifice was like a a way for someone who did commit an intentional sin to express repentance. No one gets anything out of it. Not the priests, not the person bringing it. No one eats it.
