The Lemoine Lambda controversy, to me, signaled an opportunity to have a robust discussion about the prospect of moral or legal status for artificial intelligence. What we should have been asking is how do people and other entities relate to each other? And then how does that trickle down into more specific ideas, laws, regulations, policies that govern social life between humans and each other.
