The Black Footed Ferret

The black footed ferret is one of the world's most endangered species. It was saved from extinction when ranchers took it in as part of a breeding programme. But only seven out of 18 have gone on to breed, meaning there are no more than half sibylines left today. The cloning of elizabeth anne has given her ten times more genetic variation than any other living ferret. That means she will carry new genetic variations that will help the species' long term survival.
