The Importance of Defensibility

Leo: I have a lot of empathy for people that are building and I try really hard to not tell them here's how you have to do this. You can be a good, orderly, bad investor with either background. Most investors talk about only wanting to meet founders through warm intros. But I think the truth is most intros aren't actually that warm. And so when they introduce us, it's not really warm intro. They're not really vouching for me or they don't really know if it's a good fit for you. That kind of attitude could develop whether you've been a VC all your life or whether you were a founder or individual contributor or journalist
