In syria there was a genuine, there was a real genuine there in terms of the people's welcome. There were atheists as well as devout people and it was really remarkable. In egypt they had been seeing tourists for five thousand years but are a little bit more jaded compared to syria. And i feel like we have a very kinlike view of what it means to host somnambulance or random acts of kindness from strangers. The book is all about how you can be part of an act of charity by helping someone who has no one else to help them.
