The Paradox of Building Denser Buildings
The amount of green space that we actually end up building on is higher because you have to build the same number of dwellings over a larger area. That sprawl means you have far more car dependents, so what we say we're doing to protect nature ends up harming it. And then thirdly, just from a general sort of energy efficiency perspective, dense, dense built environments are far more energy efficient than sparse ones.
